More than 400 people are now known dead from the tsunami that slammed ashore in Indonesia. Thousands were displaced. Damaged roads are making it difficult for aid to reach remote villages.

 

A K-9 officer was shot and wounded, and a sheriff's department dog was killed outside a Florida mall. Authorities were pursuing suspects in an attempted murder. At least 2 suspects are in custody. One of them was wounded.

 

Japanese stocks plunged overnight, another Asian markets also declined, following a steep drop on Wall Street. All of this amid fears of a slowing economy and President Trump's criticism of the Federal Reserve.

 

The President and First Lady Melania Trump went to Washington's National Cathedral for Christmas Eve services. The partial government shutdown is keeping the Trumps in Washington during the holiday.
